We came for the beach and stayed on the balcony. Coffee at sunrise, the kids down on the sand by nine, shrimp on the grill by six — that was the whole plan, every day. The kitchen had everything we needed for a week of cooking in.

Two families, four kids, zero arguments over bathrooms. The twin room was a hit with the little ones and the top-floor suite felt like its own apartment. Plan on stairs — lots of them.

Fort Morgan is so much calmer than the main strip. We walked for an hour on the beach and saw maybe ten people. Groceries are a real drive, so stock up in Gulf Shores on the way in.

We stayed most of March. Mild days, empty beach, birding at the refuge most mornings and the occasional round at Kiva Dunes. Wi-Fi was solid enough for video calls with the grandkids.

Spotless when we arrived, beds already made, and the beach gear under the house saved us a trip to the store. Check-in instructions were clear.

Cooked a full Thanksgiving dinner in that kitchen for eight. Chilly evenings, but the sunsets made up for it. Only wish: one more beach umbrella.

Beautiful, peaceful beach. Our teenagers got a little bored, so we made a day of Gulf Shores and the Wharf. For us adults it was perfect.

A ceiling fan stopped working on day two and it was fixed the same afternoon. Lovely house, easy walk to the sand.
